Setting Up Delivery For Square

In order to set up delivery for your Square account through the Ordering.app, you will need to first log into the merchant dashboard system at ordering.app/admin. Once logged in you will have several options for setting up delivery.

What Delivery Information is Provided to my Square Account?

All ordering.app delivery orders require the customer to enter a phone number, email, name, and address. This information will be stored within the "Orders" tab of your Square dashboard.

Where is Delivery Located?

Within the admin system, the delivery section will appear as follows:Screen_Shot_2020-03-17_at_11.29.45_AM.png

(If you do not see this section upon logging into your admin account, please reach out to our support team at the following: help@ordering.app or 512-827-8447 )

Distance Fees:

What is the Distance Fee?
A distance fee allows you to set a per-mile rate for your delivery within a specified radius.

How do I add a Distance Fee?
Adding a "Distance Fee" will present you with the following screen (your available locations will be different than mine):

Screen_Shot_2020-03-17_at_11.35.19_AM.png
This screen has 4 sections that will be important to you:
Available Locations
Per Mile Rate
Min Distance
Max Distance

Available locations: This is where you can add the store locations where this particular fee will be applied. The screen will look like the below by default. Currently, neither of my locations is in "Chosen Locations" and so will not have the fee applied.

I have now moved one of my locations into "Chosen Locations" and so the fee will be applied to that location.

Per Mile Rate:  This is how many dollars will be charged per mile. Setting the number to 5 for example charges $5 for every mile from the store.
Min Distance: The minimum distance away from the store that this fee will be applied.
Max Distance: The maximum distance away from the store that this fee will be applied.

As an example, I have set the following for my distance fee:

In my example, the fee will be $5 per mile, but only allowed within a range of 2 - 10 miles away from my store.

Once I am happy with this fee, I will then hit "Save" which is a button located in the bottom right of the screen, as follows:

Now that I have hit "Save" I will be taken to a screen that shows all of my existing fees:

Looking closer at the fee I have just made shows a summary of the fee I just completed:

Tiered Distance Fees:

What is a Tiered Distance Fee?
A tiered distance fee allows you to set a flat fee for your delivery within a specified radius.
Example: Anything within a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 miles of the store will be a flat $5 delivery fee.

How do I add a Tiered Distance fee?

What is a Polygon Zone?

A polygon zone allows you to draw a specific shape onto google maps, marking a region where a specific delivery fee will be applied/available.

How do I add a Polygon Zone?

Adding a "Polygon Zone" will present you with the following screen (your available locations will be different than mine):

This screen has 6 sections that will be important to you:

Available Locations

Delivery Area

Precedence

Fee Amount

Fee Percentage

Min Subtotal

Available locations: This is where you can add the store locations where this particular fee will be applied. The screen will look like the below by default. Currently, neither of my locations is in "Chosen Locations" and so will not have the fee applied.

Delivery Area: This is where you can draw the delivery area shape onto a map.

Example: I only want to deliver to the greater downtown Austin area, north of the Colorado river:

I start by clicking the polygon icon at the top. I then set the points of my shape, which determine the sides for this delivery area.

Precedence: This determines which fee is applied if two or more delivery areas overlap.

Example: A delivery area with a precedence of 1 will override a delivery area with a precedence of 2.

Fee Amount: A flat delivery amount in dollars and cents.

Fee Percentage: A percentage of the overall order, set aside as the delivery fee.

Min Subtotal: The minimum total order cost that will allow a customer to order delivery for this specific delivery area.

Zip Codes:

What is the Zip Code Delivery Fee?

Zipcode delivery fees allow you to set up delivery fees for specified zip codes.

How do I add a Zip Code Delivery Fee?

Adding a "Zip Code" will present you with the following screen (your available locations will be different than mine):

Screen_Shot_2020-05-21_at_1.46.05_PM.png

This screen has 5 sections that will be most important to you:

Available/Chosen locations: Similarly to the other delivery fees, this allows you to determine which of your locations will have this fee available.

Fee Amount: A flat delivery amount in dollars and cents.

Fee Percentage: A percentage of the overall order, set aside as the delivery fee.

Min Subtotal: The minimum total order cost that will allow a customer to order delivery for this specific delivery area.

Zipcode: Which zip codes that this fee will be available for. (You can only enter in one zip code per fee.)
